‘Tryfan’ broom

‘Tryfan’ broom

£160.00

This beautiful, one-of-a-kind piece of craftsmanship was commissioned by Oriel Myrddin Gallery for the 2024 Craft Festival Wales Craft Trail in Cardigan, West Wales. Created by Rosa Harradine, this broom is not just a functional tool but a work of art, deeply connected to the Welsh landscape.

Rosa’s design is a response to the evocative work of Jonah Jones and his artwork Llyn Caseg Fraith and Tryfan/Cau and Cader Idris. The broom incorporates natural grasses gathered by Rosa during her visit to Tryfan, one of the most recognizable peaks in Britain. These materials infuse the piece with a tangible connection to the landscape that inspired both her and Jones.
Crafted with an oak handle, hand-painted with Cornish Mineral Paint, and finished with raw linseed oil, this broom is as much a celebration of craftsmanship as it is of nature. The main body is made of broomcorn, and the handle is complemented by a leather hanging strap.

A perfect blend of tradition and artistry, this broom is a unique addition to any collection, celebrating the beauty and heritage of Wales.
